Home Construction Success for Dustin Hanson

Finding the right mortgage lender can be life changing. Just ask Dustin Hanson. “It’s really hard for me to put into words what Dawn means to us and what she’s done for our family,” Dustin shares.
 
During the pandemic, Dustin and his wife, bought a home in the Twin Cities and worked through the mortgage process remotely with Merchants' Mortgage Lender, Dawn Garms. While their ultimate dream was to build a home, they weren’t ready to commit to building in the Twin Cities since they hoped to put down roots in a more rural area near where they grew up in the Coulee Region of Wisconsin.
 
“When we were working with Dawn on our home purchase, I remember her asking us if we had ever thought about building. We definitely wanted to build, but just didn’t think it was an option for us at the time,” explains Dustin. “She really planted the seed back then and gave us the confidence to see it was something we could actually do.”
 
When the Hansons decided to move back to the La Crosse area in 2023 to be closer to family, Dawn helped them see that building their dream home could be a reality. “We were a little worried in the beginning, but Dawn took us seriously and presented different options as we looked at financing the home build. She guided us the whole way and made every part of the process better.” 
 
Now, as they’ve moved into their newly built home, Dustin is able to reflect on how far they’ve come, “The fact that we were able to build our house and do it in the place that we feel is home…the place where we want to raise our kids…that’s what it’s all about. Dawn and Merchants put us in the driver’s seat, so our home construction could be a success.”
