Andrew Guzzo of Merchants Bank Completes Advanced Commercial Lending School

Andrew Guzzo, Chief Banking Officer & President-Winona, has completed the American Bankers Association’s Advanced Commercial Lending School, enhancing his loan portfolio and credit risk management skills.
“The timely, real-life driven curriculum as well as networking with peers from around the country was extremely valuable to me,” said Guzzo. “I was able to enhance my current routines and disciplines with what I had learned immediately and share the key highlights with my team. It’s educational opportunities like this that help us sharpen our skillset to bring the best knowledge possible into customer conversations.”
The School, designed for seasoned lenders and managers, is an intensive week-long program covering important topics in today’s economic environment, including managing credit risk and business lending team oversight. The Advanced Commercial Lending School is a follow up to the ABA’s Foundational Commercial Lending School, which Guzzo completed in 2017. Both schools are a compliment to the Graduate School of Banking coursework

Guzzo joined Merchants Bank as Winona & Southeast Regional President in 2017. He was promoted to Chief Banking Officer & President-Winona in 2022. In his role, he has leadership responsibility for the Bank’s Winona and Goodview locations, along with the Wealth Management division, Marketing and other key centralized business units. Prior to Merchants he spent more than a decade in the banking industry, serving in leadership roles at American Bank & Trust in the Quad Cities (Iowa/Illinois) area and NXT Bank in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He also has more than 15 years of sales and sales management experience with US Foods.
